About

Douglas is a Partner in the Banking, Restructuring & Insolvency team. He is also a co-chair of Michelmores' International Committee and a vice-chair of the Insolvency Section of the International Bar Association.

He joined Michelmores in 2017, having previously worked at Travers Smith, Hogan Lovells and DLA Piper.

Douglas specialises in advising on debt restructurings, turnaround and insolvency situations, acting for private equity sponsors, financial institutions, investors, companies, directors, turnaround professionals and insolvency practitioners.

  • Advising the board of Toys 'R' Us Properties Limited in connection with the administration of its wider group

  • Advising the boards of Directors of Mothercare UK Limited, Early Learning Centre Limited and Childrens World Limited through their recent CVAs, capital raising and broader restructuring, and subsequently advising the Administrators of Childrens World Limited

  • Advising the board of directors of JD Classics Limited, a classic car retailer, on their duties and responsibilities during an accelerated M&A process and on the company’s entry into administration

  • Advising the board of directors of Wolf Minerals (UK) Limited, a tungsten mine operator, on their duties and responsibilities, and on the company’s subsequent entry into compulsory liquidation (an Official Receiver appointment)

  • Advising the board of directors of CashEuroNet LLC, which traded in the UK using the "QuickQuid", "OnStride" and "Pounds to Pocket" brand names prior to its administration

  • Advising key stakeholders in respect of a prospective building society administration and an investment bank administration

  • Advising a private bank on its managed wind-down

  • Advising a listed mining company with various global interests on its debt facilities and on its subsequent administration

  • Advising certain investors in a prominent retailer on its accelerated buy-out and recapitalisation

  • Advising a Dutch company on its contemplated scheme of arrangement under English law
