Overview

I am Head of Securities and Investment Disputes in Commercial & Regulatory Disputes team, based in London. Although my practice spans all forms of complex commercial disputes, I particularly focus on financial services and securities disputes, and contentious insolvency.

My experience includes representing venture capital trusts and their liquidators in claims against their former investment manager, advising investors in a US$500 million margin call dispute with an international investment bank, and acting for institutional and individual shareholders in a listed real estate investment trust. I also regularly act for litigation funders in High Court litigation and LCIA arbitrations.

A significant part of my work involves helping clients secure litigation funding and after-the-event insurance. I support clients through the funding process: assisting with the way cases are presented to funders, navigating the due diligence carried out by funders, and negotiating funding and insurance arrangements. Litigation funding and after-the-event insurance often unlock access to justice and help mitigate the financial risks of litigation.

My securities litigation practice builds on my earlier work acting for shareholders in Lloyds TSB (as it then was) in claims against the bank and certain former directors arising from the bank’s acquisition of HBOS. This was a landmark case in that it was the first case of its kind to reach trial in England & Wales and helped shape the landscape for securities litigation in the UK.

I am a member of the Law Society’s Dispute Resolution Section Executive Committee and was the Law Society’s representative on the Civil Justice Council’s wider consultation group in its 2024-2025 review of litigation funding.  I also sit on the Banking and Financial Claims Sub-Committee of the Collective Redress Lawyers Association, and I am a member of the London Solicitor Litigation Association and the Contentious Trust Association.

In 2025, I was recognised by Lawdragon as one of the 500 leading Global Plaintiff lawyers. I was also named as a ‘standout partner‘ for Commercial Litigation by Legal 500 in its 2025 UK Guide.
