Overview

I am a Senior Associate in the Private Property and Landed Estates team at Michelmores, based in Bristol and advising on rural property and agricultural matters.

I act on transactions including the purchase and sale of farms, landed estates and country houses.  And I advise on agricultural tenancies, housing development, renewable energy, and other estate management.  I have a strong interest in Natural Capital and enjoy advising landowners on the legal frameworks to secure public private funding for conservation and habitat enhancement, including Biodiversity Net Gain.

Before joining Michelmores in 2024, I practised at Forsters in London, where I qualified in 2020.

Working with colleagues in tax and corporate teams to ensure the structures will be tax-efficient and flexible, to accommodate changes in government policy and private funding opportunities

Acting for the son of an Agricultural Holdings Act tenant on his application to succeed to his father’s tenancy, which was contested by the landlord and complicated by the extent of the farming operations outside the holding

Acting on the purchase of one of Norfolk’s great Palladian houses, with a lease of historic contents from a previous owner, pre-emption rights over other parts of the estate, several tenants and employees, and a complex planning and listed buildings position

Negotiating section 106 agreements between landowner clients and local planning authorities, for the creation of habitat banks of Biodiversity Units for sale to developers for off-site biodiversity mitigation

Acting for a landowner on a hybrid promotion and option agreement over 600 acres of land in Lincolnshire for housing development over several phases
