Overview
I have been a Corporate Lawyer for more than 30 years and am now the Head of Corporate at Michelmores. I am also privileged to be the elected Senior Partner of the Firm.
As a Corporate Partner, I have a wide range of experience from working on over 500 transactions. After reading law at St John’s College, Cambridge, I worked in London at a renowned corporate media and technology firm, where I advised on a lot of technology IPOs and M&A deals, as well as deals in the property and leisure sectors.
I have always enjoyed supporting entrepreneurs and, having taken one tech client from early stage to listing on the FTSE stock market, I joined them as Head of Legal and Company Secretary. That company was taken over by a NASDAQ buyer a few years later, and I chose to work as a Partner at a leading National law firm before joining Michelmores in 2010.
Before becoming Senior Partner, I was head of our Private Wealth sector, and work hard to ensure that all of our people and clients are aware of our unique proposition to integrate our business advice and our private client advice in a client-focused way.
My current clients range from larger listed PLCs and some of the largest trading businesses in the UK or with a presence here, down to SMEs and early-stage entrepreneurs and HNW individuals.
I am closely involved in MAINstream, our business angel network and MiVentures, our incubator programme.
I am top ranked in the independent legal guide Chambers and I am listed as an Eminent Practitioner.
Recent experience
Acting for a National local radio station group on its sale to a German media buyer. This involved acting for over 300 shareholders and concluding a complex deal in less than two weeks, followed by extensive advice on the Competition Law implications
Acting for a Full List PLC on its sale to a French trade buyer. A longstanding client, we had helped them grow strategically and also support the shareholding family on their personal affairs
Acting for the founders of a well-known National retailer on an investment by BGF private equity and subsequent transactions. We now do all of their employment and property work nationally and support on International expansion
Advising a London based fintech on start-up and growth and subsequent sale to a large private equity backed buyer
Acting for the owners of a large holiday caravan park in Skegness on a sale to a Blackstone backed trade buyer
