Overview
I am a leading Partner in the Tax, Trusts and Succession team in London, part of the Firm’s Private Wealth team. I joined Michelmores in 2023 from Winckworth Sherwood, where I was a Partner in the Private Business and Wealth team for over five years, and prior to that I was a Partner at an international law firm.
My experience is in the private wealth sector, where I specialise in working with high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, family offices, entrepreneurs, corporates and owner-managed businesses. I advise significant family offices and in addition to UK based clients, I act for clients based in Europe, the US, Asia and the Middle East.
I am independently ranked for Family Offices and Funds and Private Wealth Law in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide and recommended in the Legal 500. I have also been recognised in the Citywealth Leaders List as well as Eprivate Client. I am a contributing author at LexisNexis, a member of STEP and on the committee for the STEP City of London branch. I was awarded Gold in the ‘Outstanding Individual of the Year’ category at CityWealth’s Powerwomen Awards 2024.
I regularly write articles on tax and trust updates (published in the Financial Times) and enjoy speaking at conferences, including hosting an annual conference for our intermediary contacts.
Recent experience
Advising on and drafting documents for offshore structuring (trust, foundation and private trust company structures) for tax, asset protection and succession purposes.
Advising individuals, trustees and companies on reporting requirements, including trust registers, the Register of Overseas Entities, as well as the implications of FATCA and the Common Reporting Standard (CRS)
Advising on SDLT, Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED), ATED related gains and Non Resident CGT rules in respect of high value UK residential property and de-enveloping property owning structures
Advising entrepreneurs on restructuring their business prior to potential exit
Advising individuals ceasing UK residence (including relocation advice) and pre-UK residence tax planning
Complex Will drafting for international couples, in particular to incorporate US and UK tax planning
Advising on HMRC enquiries and compliance checks, including domicile queries
