Charlie Gauntlett

Overview

I am a Senior Associate in the Transactional Real Estate team, based predominantly in the Exeter office (following a move from Bristol where I trained and qualified).

I have extensive experience acting for a wide range of national commercial clients, such as businesses (of all sizes), property developers and individuals, on their property transactions. This includes asset management, freehold and leasehold sales and acquisitions of commercial property and landed estates, granting and taking commercial leases, commercial development and secured lending.

I work across a number of industry sectors, including energy, retail, leisure/hospitality, offices/warehouses and forestry.

In my spare time, I make the most of being with my young family and also enjoying the great outdoors (for which Devon is perfect). When the opportunity allows, I also enjoy eating out at some of the excellent restaurants which the west country has to offer.

Recent experience

Investment/Asset Management

Assisting a wide variety of commercial landlords and corporate occupier tenants with lettings of both single and multi-occupancy properties

Acting for major national developers on the purchase of a number of commercial development sites, including dealing with some complex title issues

Advising one of the UK’s biggest public forestry owners on the sale and leasing of a number of areas of forestry land

Spent time on virtual secondment at a multinational chain of health food stores, advising primarily on the renewal of a large number of their existing leases

Energy

Acting for one of the UK’s largest commercial rooftop solar developers in relation to due diligence and lease negotiation for numerous rooftop and ground mounted solar projects

Advising multiple landowners on the grant of Options and Leases to renewable energy companies for solar and battery storage, as well as the installation and operation of wind farms
