Natural Capital Roadshow 2026: Structuring Deals, Unlocking Investment, Driving Landscape Recovery

We recently hosted the Natural Capital Roadshow, held from 2 - 6 February 2026.

Throughout the event, we explored the rapidly evolving Natural Capital market and examined how it aligns with publicly funded schemes and private investment.

Using a case‑study approach, we delved into the complexities of structuring and delivering Natural Capital opportunities.

We considered these challenges from multiple perspectives, including those of developers, landowners, local planning authorities, investors, and land managers.

In particular, we looked at:

  • The developing commercial, legal, and policy framework around natural capital opportunities, including considering additionality, and how to evaluate the competing opportunities.
  • The challenges and opportunities presented by the Planning and Infrastructure Act following royal assent on 18 December 2025.
  • Reviving and revitalising promotion and option agreements for strategic land in the face of an evolving planning environment.
  • Exploring the new and developing opportunities for renewable energy development, including, battery, solar and wind.
  • Explaining, and developing thinking behind the financing and investment in natural capital, including setting out the currently favoured funding models.
  • Lessons learned in practice from a year of landscape recovery documentation and implementation, including discussions on appropriate structures, tackling encumbrances on titles, and efficient due diligence.
  • A tour de force of the tax constraints and opportunities brought by natural capital projects on the modern landed estate.
