Advising Corporate Finance House on the largest commercial property deal in Bucharest this year, namely the Day Tower office building. Day Tower is a brand new Class A office building, close to the historic centre of the city, in the immediate vicinity of the National Library of Romania and Bucharest City Courthouse. The deal was structured as a corporate wrapper involving the sale by a Greek owned Cyprus company which owned the Romanian target company. Find out more here.

Advising Goldtree on its merger with Natural Habitats Europe Africa, in a deal that will drive the sustainable production of certified organic palm oil in Sierra Leone. Established in 2007, Goldtree is located in Daru, in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. Its operations are based on the rehabilitation of an abandoned mill destroyed in the country's 1991-2002 civil war. The new mill was commissioned in 2013, making it the first commercial mill operating in Sierra Leone since the civil war. Find out more here.

Advising BRAC international on the transformation of the biggest microfinance operation in Uganda. The transaction aims to broaden and deepen financial inclusion for hundreds of thousands of people. With the new license, BRAC Uganda Bank Limited will be able to offer savings accounts, money transfer, insurance and other financial services besides credit products to Ugandans. Advising the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) in Kazakhstan on a major project to set up Kazakhstan's own international financial centre in Astana, in a similar manner to those in Dubai and Qatar. This has included drafting detailed and bespoke Financial Regulations for the AIFC, including for the new capital markets. Acting for Greenland Group, China's largest real estate developer on the mixed-use scheme at the former Ram Brewery in Wandsworth, including over 630 residential units in three phases. We have attended overseas exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. We have also been instructed to act in connection with their other UK development at Hertsmere House in Docklands.

Advising York Global Finance on an application by the administrators of Lehman Brothers International (Europe) for directions on the distribution of a £7.99bn surplus. The case raised 39 new points of law and construction over issues of technical insolvency law and commercial finance based on standard-form master agreements.

Acting for United Bank Limited before the French Court of Appeal in a successful appeal against Crédit Agricole and Thales in counter-guarantee disputes relating to underlying contracts in the Yemen where "force majeure", alleged fraud and EU Sanction issues arose.

Successfully winning an appeal in the Court of Appeal relating to an international child maintenance case, confirming that a payer should be resident in England and/or Wales or have assets in these jurisdictions to apply to register an EU judgment in the English courts. Find out more here.

Advising retailer, The Gro Group Limited, on international partnering and licensing arrangements with retailers in the Asian and Australian/NZ markets. This involved transitioning Gro's own local presence in Australia (operating through a wholly owned subsidiary) to allow Bloom & Grow to operate the "GroStore" website in relation to the Australian/NZ markets.

Advising a professional guardian in Australia about mental capacity law in England and Wales, and seeking recognition of her authority in England and Wales. The recognition will allow her to administer and protect her client's English property with the need to obtain a further deputyship Order, saving her time, money and paperwork, and enabling the client's global assets to be efficiently managed.
