About

Tom is a member of the Technology, Media & Communications team.

Tom qualified in 2005 and worked in the City for Olswang, a leading technology and media firm, joining Michelmores in 2009.

He is experienced in advising clients in the IT, media, e-commerce and financial services sectors, ranging from large corporations to small to medium enterprises.

He advises both on national and international commercial arrangements.

Tom has expertise in drafting and negotiating agreements with a technology component whether they are major projects or day to day arrangements, including outsourcing, software and systems licensing and development agreements.

His work extends to providing legal and strategic advice on the commercial arrangements for managing, using and protecting intellectual property, including agreements dealing with the creation, exploitation and distribution of content, including via television and the internet.

Tom's broad range of clients require his advice on regulatory and consumer compliance issues including e-commerce and distance selling issues, data protection, consumer terms and conditions and financial services regulation.

Tom is recognised as a Recommended Lawyer in Legal 500 2015 and a Star Associate in Chambers and Partners 2016. 

Recent Experience

  • Advising Landmark Information Group Limited (a Daily Mail and General Trust group company) on a range of commercial agreements.  In particular, Tom advised Landmark on the launch of several environmental risk report products, managing negotiations with data suppliers, resellers and customers, and also negotiating with leading banks and building societies in relation to the supply of the "Quest" suite of products and services. 
  • Advising Agilisys Limited on innovative IT and business process services in relation to its successful tender to for the provision of ICT managed services and transformation services to the City of London Corporation. 
  • Advising leading wireless networking equipment manufacturer Cambium Networks (based in the UK and Illinois, US) in relation to various agreements required for the establishment of the new business following the sale by Motorola Solutions of its Wireless Broadband Solutions business to Vector Capital. Tom advised Cambium Networks in relation to its agreements with key customers, suppliers, resellers and distributors and research and development agreements.
