Overview
Sam is a Senior Associate in Michelmores’ Commercial team, working across the firm’s Bristol, London and Exeter offices with a focus on the Bristol market.
With a strong focus on the technology and financial services sectors, Sam works closely with scale up and established businesses, particularly those operating in FCA regulated markets.
Sam has experience advising on a wide range of commercial, regulatory, and technology matters, including digital platforms (both for investment products/services and insurance distribution), software businesses, wealth management, pensions, and financial advice. Prior to joining Michelmores, Sam served as an in-house Counsel at a FTSE 50 asset and wealth manager in London, providing legal support across the retail investment division.

Sam is particularly interested in the intersection of regulation, innovation, and technology in financial services. Sam enjoys supporting Corporate, Disputes and Employment teams with sector knowledge and experience in the Financial Services’ space.

Sam’s recent work includes leading and supporting complex technology and financial services projects such as:
- Providing advisory support on the acquisition of financial advice networks, insurance and consumer credit businesses.
- Leading updates to an international investment manager’s UK terms of business.
- Advising on a re-platforming and white-label partnership between two major financial institutions.
- Leading the legal delivery of a mobile app offering ‘robo’ financial advice, integrated with a third-party investment platform.
