UK law firm Michelmores has taken up residence at its new Bristol office located at 10 Victoria Street in the heart of the city, to facilitate the Firm’s growth trajectory.
The move comes as the Firm continues to expand its core Private Client, Business and Real Estate groups. Recent appointments have seen 22 new lawyers joining the Firm’s Bristol office in the last 12 months, with a 50% increase in the total number of colleagues based in the city since the start of 2022 bringing the total number of Bristol colleagues to 104. Michelmores is also actively recruiting for roles in Bristol across the Firm.
10 Victoria Street, a Grade II listed building has undergone a significant and sensitive redevelopment to become a Grade A office facility, which has been awarded BREEAM ‘Very Good’ status.
Michelmores has leased just over 11,000 sq ft, offering a variety of focused working, conference, collaboration and break out space tailored specifically to the Firms’ needs. The space also offers cycle storage for 76 bikes with shower and changing facilities, plus specialist cycle clothing drying lockers, and four EV car charging points.
Michelmores is committed to reducing its environmental impact and has recently achieved Planet Mark Business certification for the second year running, reducing its emissions by 12.9% last year. The Firm’s move to 10 Victoria Street will further support its work towards its ongoing Net Zero Programme. Where possible, the Firm has repurposed office furniture and donated other items to local charities.
Tim Richards, Michelmores’ Managing Partner, comments on the move:
“Our move to this fantastic building signals our continued investment in Bristol – a city that’s a hub of creativity and innovation and also one of the greenest cities in the UK. Bristol has played a key role in our growth story over the last decade and we have more exciting plans ahead”.
Paul Beanlands, Partner and head of Michelmores’ Bristol office, adds:
“Moving to 10 Victoria Street exemplifies our people-first culture and our agile working model. The new office has been designed with significant input from our people, and the result is an excellent space for our colleagues and clients to thrive, collaborate and connect”.
The letting to Michelmores was secured by property consultancy Hartnell Taylor Cook, alongside real estate firm CSquared. The new office interior was conceptualised by architecture and design studio, D-Three Studio (D3).
Chris Grazier, Partner and head of Hartnell Taylor Cook’s office in Bristol, comments:
“The flight to quality in the city centre is soaring and this landmark offers a state-of-the-art space in a prime location. There is clear appetite for Grade A space and 10 Victoria provides a great base for Michelmores to continue grow.”
Ian Mabe, Managing Director of DThree, comments:
“With a call to arms to challenge traditional legal office design and advance how they work we couldn’t resist being a part of Michelmores’ growth story and this exciting new chapter in Bristol. Being client obsessed, we conducted a detailed workplace study to understand the Firm’s culture and people. This data powered design helped us create a distinctive aesthetic aligned to Michelmores’ new brand, a scheme that embraces an open and collaborative culture, humble and welcoming experience for clients, with a bold, contemporary design. We know it will be a magnet for talent in the region.”
