Michelmores has announced a key milestone in the Firm’s sustainability journey with a commitment to reach net zero by 2040, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
The Firm has also set two interim targets, to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 50% by 2030.
Having begun its net zero journey in 2022, Michelmores has partnered with Planet Mark to establish a robust emissions baseline and measure and reduce its carbon footprint by at least 2.5% annually. In its fourth year of reporting, Michelmores has reduced its full scope emissions by 14.3% in 2025, against its 2023 baseline.
To reach its net zero targets, the Firm has implemented a Net Zero Transition Plan, developed in partnership with Planet Mark as part of their Net Zero Programme and aligned to standards set by SBTi, a global body that helps companies and financial institutions set ambitious greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets aligned with climate science.
Tim Richards, Managing Partner at Michelmores, said:
“As a firm, we are committed to achieving long term economic growth that creates and protects value for our people, clients and communities.
“Setting our net zero targets is a key milestone in our work to reduce our impact on the environment. Our targets are ambitious, but through our work with Planet Mark, we have a robust plan in place to transition our firm to a truly sustainable business.
“Alongside our own responsible business efforts, we continue to partner with our clients operating in the wider sustainable economy and support them in their own transition to a low carbon economy.”
Alongside the launch of the Firm’s net zero targets, Michelmores has published its 2025 Impact Report, which details progress made to date across its responsible business and sustainable economy work.
Our 2025 Impact Report outlines our progress across responsible business and social impact, as well as the sustainable economy work which supports our clients in their own transition to a low carbon future. Read full report here.
