Michelmores reappointed to the Police National Legal Services Framework

Michelmores has been reappointed by the Mayor’s Office For Policing And Crime as one of three legal firms approved to advise on commercial and residential property, and PFI matters. This is the fourth time in a row that the Firm has been selected to provide legal services to the Metropolitan Police Service (Met), plus over 60 additional police and public bodies throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The tender process was led by Real Estate Partner, Richard Honey, who said: “Following a successful tender submission and panel interview with the Metropolitan Police Service, I am delighted to announce that, despite tough competition from other major national law firms, Michelmores has been reappointed to the National Legal Services Framework. The team and I look forward to cementing our relationships with the many forces for whom we act already and to developing a similar rapport with other framework users.”

Under previous arrangements, Michelmores has been selected to support the Met on some of the most high-profile and politically-sensitive real estate transactions it has undertaken. These include the sale of the training school at Hendon for £120m, the sale of New Scotland Yard for £370m and the acquisition of the Empress State Building at Earls Court for £250m. The capital receipts from these sales have enabled significant investment in mobile technology for officers and in the remainder of the estate. The acquisition of the Empress State Building supports the Met’s aim of creating a counter-terrorism hub for London.

Michelmores LLP is a full-service Top 100 Law Firm with offices in London, Bristol and Exeter.
