Michelmores hosts 21st 5K Charity Run

The Michelmores 5K Charity Run 2022 returned on Thursday 8 September, welcoming over 630 participants, as well as volunteers and supporters to its new venue – the picturesque grounds of Powderham Castle.

The Race was hosted by former Exeter Chiefs rugby player, Chris Bentley with an introduction from the Earl of Devon, Charles Courtenay who is a Partner at Michelmores.

The event, which has raised more than £365,000 in its 21 year history so far, was this year held in aid of the mental health charity, The Charlie Waller Trust.

Louise Edwards, Marketing Director at Michelmores said:

‘It was fantastic to bring our Charity Run back after a two year pause due to COVID. The news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II came in during the course of our event and we thank all those who were able to join us in a few moments of quiet reflection before the prize giving. This year’s MM5K was held in aid of The Charlie Waller Trust. Thank you to our participants for coming together as a community to raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity. My congratulations to our prize-winners, and to all those who showed their support – from our sponsors and those who donated prizes, to our volunteers and, of course, our runners.’

This year’s charity run had an emphasis on sustainability and wellbeing as it brought colleagues, friends and families together in the leafy surrounds of the Powderham Castle Estate’s deer park. Participants were encouraged to wear an ‘old’ Michelmores 5K event T-shirt and to bring a water bottle from home to refill. Those who finished the run were given a limited edition digital medal and race packs were collected on the day rather than posted.

Tim Richards, Managing Partner at Michelmores said:

‘Congratulations to everyone who dug out a pair of running shoes and took part in the event. It was great to bring people together once again and in a super new venue. Special congratulations to those who won in their category. We will be fundraising for The Charlie Waller Trust until Friday 30 September. Please do support our Justgiving page and this wonderful charity which does so much for those who support young people with their mental wellbeing.’
