In February 2025, the Home Office estimated that at least 600,000 people were yet to make the transition from their physical immigration documents to an eVisa. In attempt to reduce this number, the Home Office announced an extension to the grace period for using expired physical documents until the 1 June 2025.

The Home Office has not announced any further extension on the grace period since, which therefore means as of today’s date, all physical immigration documents are no longer a valid way of evidencing your immigration status.

Before travelling internationally, it is imperative that you ensure you have access to an eVisa to avoid being denied entry to the UK or delaying your travels.

Accessing your eVisa

Accessing your eVisa is done simply by following these three steps:

  1. Create an UKVI account
  2. Confirm your identity
  3. Link your account to your eVisa

Once you have access to your eVisa and UKVI account, it is important you ensure that you input all required personal information and upload your travel documents.

It is important to note that despite your passport being linked to your eVisa, you are still required to carry your physical passport.

If you require any assistance in accessing your eVisa, please contact Lynsey Blyth or a member of our specialist Immigration Team
