The JCT has announced the release date of the first of the new contracts in its 2024 suite. On 17 April access will be available to the new edition of the Design & Build form of contract, arguably the most commonly used of the 12 JCT families of contracts.
As well as general “modernising and streamlining” the JCT promises new drafting to reflect legislative changes since the 2016 edition, including in relation to the Building Safety Act and Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act. We are also informed that previously optional provisions in relation to collaboration and sustainability will now be included in the standard conditions.
In this webinar, Michelmores’ experienced construction lawyers will share their reflections on the changes and in particular will comment on the extent to which the JCT 2024 edition picks up on market-standard amendments commonly required by employers and funders alike. We will give insight into the pro’s and cons of moving the procurement of your next design and build project to the 2024 edition rather than the tried and tested 2016 edition.
