Michelmores announces fundraising total of £89,000 for Charity of the Year

Michelmores is proud to announce a record-breaking fundraising total of over £89,600 for its Exeter Charity of the Year, Balloons.

The Firm’s Exeter office has been partnered with Balloons, an Exeter-based charity who provide pre and post bereavement support to children and young people, for two years.

The majority of funds raised across the two-year partnership came from Michelmores’ Charity 5k Run, which this year alone raised a record-breaking £32,800. The Run takes place in Exeter’s City Centre and attracts over 1,000 runners each year.

The office has hosted a variety of additional fundraising events – from bake sales to charity car washes, a silent auction and a Christmas Bazaar organised by this year’s intake of Trainee Solicitors.

Andrew Oldland, Senior Partner at Michelmores said:

“In 2015 we made the decision for each of our Exeter, London and Bristol offices to support a local charity, as part of our ambition to give back to the communities we work with.

“Balloons does such fantastic work, and I think everyone at the Firm has at some point been moved by the wonderful stories we have heard from them. They have been an excellent charity to partner with, and we will miss them very much!”

Sara Bennett, Balloons CEO, commented:

“We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone at Michelmores. Your fundraising has played such an important part in providing support to vulnerable children and young people at a time of grief and bereavement.

“If we could stop the bad things happening then of course we would, but given that we can’t, what we do is the best that can be done – and all children and young people facing bereavement, or coping after bereavement, deserve the best that we can do. You have helped to make it possible.

“Your support has been nothing short of amazing, and we have felt so proud to be associated with you.”

Michelmores will announce its new Charity of the Year in January 2018.
