The results of this year’s survey of law trainee attitudes organised by the student guide to the law, Lex100, has some very encouraging results for Michelmores.

The survey examines trainees views on to their firm and work experience and covers areas such as overall satisfaction, quality of work, friendliness of the firm, work/life balance, amount of client contact and if the firm is living up to expectations.

Michelmores scored particularly high on the friendliness of the firm (96.7%), overall satisfaction (91.1%) and living up to expectations (90%), as well as  scoring well across all categories.

The survey summary said: “Current trainees feel that the work is of a ‘similar standard’ to that of City firms, but with a ‘better work/life balance’. You can expect an ‘excellent balance’ between being ‘given responsibility’ and being provided with ample support in the form of ‘mentoring’ to help you with your work.

“The quality of the training and the type of work given to trainees is described as ‘unbeatable’. Valuable experiences include ‘leading a client meeting’, ‘advising company directors on a multi-million pound claim against them’ and ‘attending a conference with medical experts in London’. The firm ‘puts a great deal of emphasis’ on developing a ‘friendly, collegiate culture’ so everyone ‘really cares about you personally as well as professionally’.”

The survey concluded that Michelmores is “a Lex 100 Winner in a raft of categories: living up to expectations, friendliness, job satisfaction, vacation scheme and manageable levels of stress” and goes on to advise law students that “Michelmores is a good fit if you are looking for a ‘respected regional firm’ where you can ‘tailor the training contract to suit your individual needs’.”

HR Director Colette Stevens commented: “We are delighted with these results, they  demonstrate the commitment and time everyone at Michelmores gives to  ensuring our trainee solicitors experience a high quality training experience throughout their training contract.”
