‘Optimism is key in looking to our future outside EU’

It won’t have escaped your notice that the United Kingdom held a referendum on the question of whether to remain a member of the European Union or leave and the decision was to leave.

The UK is now likely to follow the procedures laid down in Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union (the Lisbon Treaty), which provides that the EU and the UK will have two years from the day the UK’s decision is formally notified to the EU Council to negotiate the terms of the UK’s withdrawal from the Union, failing which the European Treaties will cease to apply to the UK.
