Emma Cheshire

Overview

I am a Corporate Associate specialising in private M&A and venture capital. I advise high growth, technology led businesses and their investors on a broad range of corporate matters, acting for both scale ups and investment funds. While I have extensive experience in the technology sector, I work with clients across a variety of industries including entertainment and renewable energy. I also serve as a London lead for Michelmores’ Next Generation Corporate Finance group, helping to shape initiatives that support junior professionals and future leaders in corporate finance space.

I have experience in supporting founders, shareholders, management teams, and companies. I regularly advise on equity fundraising transactions from early stage investments through to later stage financing rounds, representing companies, angel investors, venture capital funds and private equity firms. I am also the only junior lawyer appointed to the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA) panel, where I aim to grow utilisation of the UK’s EIS and SEIS initiatives. In addition, I am the Chair of Michelmores’ Accessibility Committee, leading firmwide initiatives to improve inclusion, accessibility, and support for colleagues with disabilities and neurodiversity. Finally, I am closely involved in MAINstream, our business angel network and MiVentures, our incubator programme.

Before joining Michelmores in 2023, I trained at Taylor Wessing LLP, completing seats in Patents and Corporate Technology & Life Sciences having previously worked as a Legal Advisor at global fintech Finastra International, managing its IP portfolio and collaborating closely with early stage fintech businesses through incubator and partnership programmes. I hold a BA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of Nottingham, a Graduate Diploma in Law, and a Distinction in my LLM in Commercial/Business Law from BPP University.
