Overview

I’m a Partner in Michelmores Transactional Real Estate team. Qualifying in 2006 as a real estate lawyer I have extensive experience within both commercial and residential property. I joined Michelmores in September 2023.

Since 2012, I have focused on property transactions which involve ‘potential’ development of the land. I have acted and advised both landowners, developers (commercial and residential) and promoters through the complete life cycle of a development including site assembly, planning, site acquisition, funding, site setup of the development and most importantly the onward sales to housing associations, other developers, commercial purchasers and plot purchasers.

My clients include regional and national housebuilders; promoters, charities acting as developers and landowners.

I enjoy reviewing titles, problem solving and finding a solution to problematic title problems and negotiating legal documents including options, conditional contracts and collaboration agreements.

One of my favourite aspects of my job is becoming an integral part of my client’s team, becoming their trusted adviser and helping them navigate complex information in a clear, straightforward and succinct manner.

Outside the office I enjoy the outdoors, travelling and I am a keen swimmer.

Recent experience

Acted for a national housebuilder seeking planning permission for several mixed-use developments comprising approximately 2,500 residential units and commercial units together with local facilities. Advised and negotiated option agreements, conditional contracts and collaboration agreements and negotiated an indemnity policy to cover defects on the site

Managed numerous onwards sales for several national housebuilders in relation to large strategic developments including golden brick sales to housing associations, conditional contracts of commercial units including setting up precedent documentation for onward sales and managed a team to deal with the large number of infrastructure agreements including s38, 278, 104 and gas and electricity easements and electricity sub-stations involved in the site

Advising on consortium projects and the implementation of the collaboration agreement on a large consortium site

Acted on several acquisitions of small and medium sites for commercial and residential developers

Regularly advise and negotiate overage agreements and the release of restrictive covenants
