Huge success for Exeter PA Network event

Tips on mentoring and coaching were central to the latest Exeter PA Network event held at the end of June at the new Hampton by Hilton Hotel and Flybe’s Training Academy.

The PA Network, which is supported by Exeter Chamber of Commerce, offers personal assistants and secretaries the opportunity to meet and exchange experiences in an informal and relaxed environment.

The latest event attracted over 60 delegates and included a tour of the new hotel and a visit to Flybe’s flight simulators and Training Academy.  The event started with an interview with Rebecca Richardson, Private Executive Assistant to international entrepreneur John Scarisbrick, followed by a presentation from Michelmores Solicitors’ HR Manager Liz Shaw, who spoke about the benefits and opportunities of mentoring and coaching.

Event organiser Kim Glover from Michelmores Solicitors commented: “The PA Network is growing in popularity both as a way of improving business skills and interpersonal communication while having fun at the same time! The Exeter and Plymouth networks are thriving and we understand a Bristol network is now being formed.”

“Following Liz Shaw’s talk on mentoring there was an open floor discussion and, after reviewing the audience’s feedback , we are now looking  to launch a mentoring hub for the Exeter PA business community.”

Personal and Executive Assistants from across Exeter and its sub-region will be given the opportunity to take part in the PA Network, which will promote peer to peer partnerships, helping the less experienced to develop their careers by sharing practical advice, best practice; providing benefits to the individuals participating and the businesses they work for.

The next PA Network event will take place in Plymouth in October followed by a January event in Exeter.  Details for the events and the mentoring scheme will be available on Exeter PA Network’s Linkedin page or by contacting the Exeter Chamber of Commerce on 01392 431133 or email  jennifer@exeterchamber.co.uk.
