Michelmores is proud to announce that its Charity of the Year for 2016 is Balloons. The firm’s Exeter office aims to raise over £30,000 for them during the next year.
Michelmores has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for a wide range of charities. Most recently the Firm supported Macmillan Cancer Support, raising over £65,000 for them over a two year partnership. This year, the Firm’s three offices will each support charities local to them in Exeter, Bristol and London.
Balloons provides pre and post bereavement support to children and young people after the death of someone significant in their lives – no one else provides a specialist service of this kind in Exeter. They also work with families when a parent or sibling has a terminal diagnosis. Last year alone Balloons supported 105 children and young people and just over 400 families.
The majority of funds raised by Michelmores will be from the firm’s popular 5K Charity Run which attracts around 1000 runners – this year the run is being held on Thursday 8 September. In addition, Michelmores plans to hold a variety of smaller events in aid of Balloons, engaging as many of its staff as possible.
Louise Edwards, Marketing director at Michelmores said:
“This year we changed our submission criteria as we wanted to support a Charity local to our head office in Exeter. Balloons are a small charity, with around 45 active volunteers and no statutory funding, so I am sure that we can make a significant difference to them during our partnership.”
Sara Bennet, CEO of Balloons said:
“We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as Michelmores’ Charity of the year for 2016. They have an impressive corporate social engagement record, and we are so very grateful to them for wanting to work alongside us and to make a massive positive difference to vulnerable bereaved children and young people in the Exeter, Mid and East Devon area. Together we will be stronger!”
