Mental Capacity Seminar | Capacity issues in life and post death; a family perspective

Defamation & Reputation Management

We held our seminar on Wednesday 20 March, at our Bristol office.

The event was hosted by our Mental Capacity and Contentious Probate Teams together with barristers Alex Troup KC and Joss Knight from St Johns Chambers and consultant clinical psychologist Dr Abi Cheeseman from Circle Case Management. During the seminar we discussed a case study exploring issues which arise in a family relating to mental capacity pre and post death.

Topics included:

  • Capacity to make and revoke LPAs
  • Capacity to gift
  • Capacity to marry
  • Post death claims to estates
  • Best practice in instructing a capacity expert
  • Practical tips and tricks to protect your client and avoid litigation
