Michelmores is pleased to announce that Anna Wood, Partner and Head of Construction, has been appointed by the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) as Chair of its Drafting Sub-Committee.
Anna’s appointment, which takes effect in July 2026, reflects her standing within the construction sector and her extensive experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. As Chair of the Drafting Sub-Committee, she will lead the group responsible for overseeing the development and updating of JCT’s suite of standard form construction contracts, which are widely used across the UK construction industry. JCT contracts are used for an estimated £90 – £100 billion worth of construction work in the UK each year.
Anna Wood said:
“I am delighted to take on the role of Chair of the JCT Drafting Sub-Committee at a time when the construction industry continues to navigate significant legal, commercial and regulatory change. The JCT contracts play a central role in supporting successful project delivery, and I look forward to working with the Sub-Committee to ensure that all contracts across the suite remain clear, relevant and fit for purpose.”
Anna leads Michelmores’ Construction team, advising developers, employers, contractors and consultants on a broad range of projects across the UK. She is recognised for her pragmatic, commercial approach and her ability to navigate complex legal issues within the built environment sector.
Andrew Baines, Head of Michelmores’ Specialist Real Estate team, added:
“Anna’s appointment to this important role is a testament to her expertise and leadership within the construction sector. We are proud to see her contributing directly to the development of the JCT contracts, which underpin so many construction projects across the UK.”
