Cloud services in education and the Data Protection Act

The Department for Education has released new guidance on cloud computing for schools. With technology becoming more and more prevalent in schools, it is important that they are aware of data security and other considerations when changing cloud providers.

Unlike many traditional Photocopier Leases and IT contracts, cloud terms are negotiable. It is no longer the norm that suppliers successfully use the cost saving of cloud computing to get the customer to agree standard but unfavourable terms.

Michelmores’ Technology, Media and Communications team has extensive experience of negotiating terms with cloud providers. For further information on cloud services or data protection generally, please contact Nathaniel Lane on nathaniel.lane@michelmores.com or 0207 788 6313.
