Greenwashing: The risks of overstating environmental credentials

Greenwashing: The risks of overstating environmental credentials

In the run up to the Cereals 2023 event this June, we have recorded a series of six podcasts where we explore common issues encountered by rural businesses and estates. These podcasts aim to share our knowledge and experience in order to provide thought provoking and informative discussions.

Throughout the series, Adam Corbin is joined by lawyers from across Michelmores who work collaboratively on transactions and disputes concerning these issues for our clients. The core themes we will be covering are: modern challenges in rural estate management, environmental opportunities, and future food production challenges and opportunities.

In this episode we consider the challenges faced by modern businesses in making, defending, and attacking environmental claims about the goods or services they offer. Adam Corbin will be joined by a litigator, and a transactional lawyer, who are each able to give their perspectives on this developing area. We will review the sources of law and regulation of this output, the consequences of a failure to comply, and some useful practical guidelines intended to help keep enterprises the right side of the line.
