Overview

As the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist and Wellbeing Lead, I collaborate closely with colleagues across the business to support the delivery of Michelmores’ DEI strategy and action plan. I take great pride in empowering our networks, supporting them to organize and deliver events and workshops that align with the Firm’s initiatives and contribute to fostering a welcoming and inclusive culture.

In my role, I proactively identify opportunities to develop and integrate inclusive processes and practices into our approach and values. This ensures that we attract and retain the very best talent by creating an environment where everyone feels valued.

Additionally, I support the HR team in a communications capacity, crafting internal and external marketing materials, digital content, and PR copy that promotes our initiatives, particularly those under the DEI and Wellbeing umbrellas.

Outside of my professional responsibilities, I volunteer as a ‘befriender’ for the Firm’s charity partner, FearFree, and serve as a Community Activator for FreeMoovement.

Recent experience

Working closely with a DEI consultant to develop and refine the Firm’s new DEI strategy and action plan, ensuring alignment with our goals for fostering an inclusive workplace

Supporting the Firm’s LGBTQ+ network in creating a comprehensive awareness campaign for Pride Month. This initiative included a workshop on Courageous Conversations, a Firmwide quiz night, providing resources and support, and creating storytelling content

Assisting the Wellbeing Champions in their role as the first point of contact for colleagues seeking support, ensuring they have the tools to listen effectively and direct individuals to relevant resources from our benefits package

Working with the Partner sponsor for Inclusion to conduct a diversity data roadshow, including video content that aims to inspire and give colleagues the confidence and know-how to update the diversity data we hold for them so we can use this to build meaningful and measurable change

Supporting the Firm to progress its initiative to ‘make law more accessible’ by working with our Early Careers team to host events for marginalised groups; this has included organizing a workplace visit and communications workshop for Year 10 students from local schools and promoting our in-school social mobility initiative, Momentum
