Modern Slavery Act Statement

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 applies to all organisations, whatever the sector, which supply goods or services and which carry on a business or part of a business in the United Kingdom and whose global turnover exceeds £36 million. The Act requires such organisations to publish an annual slavery statement on their website.

As a firm, Michelmores LLP continues to be committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business.

Firm's structure

Michelmores LLP is a law firm with offices in London, Bristol and Exeter, providing a range of legal services for individuals and businesses. We employ over 460 lawyers and support staff.

Supplier adherence

As a law firm, some services are outsourced to third party suppliers. We carefully vet and will annually review our suppliers to ensure compliance and ask for confirmation from each supplier as to their policies and procedures on human trafficking and slavery.

Should a supplier's compliance with the Act be considered to be unsatisfactory, we will review our continued relationship with that supplier to ensure the Firm's own continued compliance with the Act.

We are committed to investigating any allegations of modern slavery or human trafficking, whether in our own firm or in our outsourced suppliers, and our Whistleblowing Policy has been reviewed to include reference to the Act.

In the course of the last financial year we have reviewed our supplier relationships and are shortly rolling out communications to our relevant suppliers which our review identified as being most at risk, reminding them of our commitment to combat modern slavery, and requiring them to complete a questionnaire. We will consider their responses as part of our continuous review process.

Training

We will continue to provide targeted training and awareness raising internally to ensure compliance with the Act to ensure that there is an awareness of the risks and to enable staff to be able to identify potential areas of concern.

Key Performance Indicators

The key performance indicators will be that the responses received from our suppliers regarding compliance with the Act are satisfactory.

This statement will be reviewed annually by our Risk and Compliance team.
