Michelmores shortlisted for Best Legal Team for Early Stage Deals at the UKBAA Angel Investment Awards 2023

We are pleased to announce that Michelmores has been selected as a finalist for the Best Legal Team for Early Stage Deals at the UKBAA Angel Investment Awards 2023. Chloe Vernon-Shore, a Partner in the firm’s Commercial team, has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Investment in Diversity Champion award.

The 2023 awards recognise the outstanding achievements of early-stage investors and the businesses they back.

The Firm has been shortlisted in this category in recognition of making a significant impact on the ecosystem during the past year, both through actively supporting angel and early-stage investment deals and bringing real added value to the investment process.

Michelmores has provided longstanding corporate support of early-stage deals. The Firm has expertise in venture capital and early-stage fundraising and has offered outstanding professional expertise on a number of early-stage deals throughout the last 12 months.

In addition to advising on the transactions themselves, other teams across the Firm have provided support to early-stage companies, both in setting up share incentive schemes to attract and retain key staff and in helping them protect their brands or become B Corps.

The Firm has also been recognised in this category due to its UKBAA registered angel investor network, MAINstream. MAINstream is a network for business angel investors established by Michelmores in 2019 to help accelerate the growth of angel investing, particularly in the South West. The Firm hosts 5/6 pitch events each year and has a growing membership of approximately 65 angel investors, all of whom are interested in investing at pre-seed stage and have a clear objective of promoting the financial ecosystem in the South West.

Chloe Vernon-Shore has received this shortlisting for being a key individual in the UK early-stage investment ecosystem that is taking a leadership role in breaking down barriers for access to equity investment, for founders from diverse backgrounds. In particular, women founders and other underrepresented or marginalised groups.

Chloe comments: “We continue to work hard as a Firm to foster an innovative, collaborative and supportive culture for early-stage entrepreneurs and to break down barriers for access to equity investment. It is fantastic to receive recognition in both categories at the UKBAA Angel Investment Awards 2023.”

The Awards ceremony is taking place at the Science Museum, London on Thursday 6 July 2023 and will showcase the success and determination of the angel and early-stage investment community.
