Sporting Legends Dinner: The Guild of Friends

Michelmores sponsors 'Sporting Legends Dinner' in aid of The Guild of Friends

Michelmores' Bristol office was the proud sponsor of the 'Sporting Legends Dinner' held in aid of The Guild of Friends on the 20 November in the Great Hall of Bristol Grammar School – attended by over 240 guests from across the regions Private Wealth and Agricultural sectors.

The evening, featured talks from rugby legends Willie John McBride MBE – captain of the victorious Lions side in South Africa in 1974 and David Duckham MBE who was capped 36 times and is arguably England’s greatest winger of all time.

A raffle, with prizes including signed merchandise from the guest speakers along with an auction of big ticket items including hot air balloon rides, a day at Silverstone driving all the latest Porsche cars, behind the scenes tour of the BBC and a stay in a holiday cottage for 12 people,  meant that the event raised over £20,000 for The Guild of Friends.

The event, in aid of The Guild of Friends of the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, aimed to raise money in order to buy a scanner. This will make the lives of disabled children easier, by sparing them the ordeal of having a general anaesthetic every time they come to the hospital.

Caroline Taylor Partner in Michelmores' Bristol office is on the committee and the Secretary of The Guild of Friends said:

"Having worked with the Bristol Children's Hospital for over 16 years in my capacity as Secretary of the Guild, it has been extra special having Michelmores sponsor this event, raising the profile of the Bristol office and at the same time helping make the lives of  families and children that much easier by the funds that we raised".
