Sophie is an Associate in the Property Litigation team.
She joined Michelmores in February 2004, after training and practising in a London firm, where she qualified in 2001.
Sophie advises on all aspects of contentious property work, including lease renewals, dilapidations claims, easements and restrictive covenants, boundary disputes and adverse possession claims.
Sophie is a member of the Property Litigation Association.
- Advising a corporate client in relation to a statutory demand served upon them and seeking the opinion of a QC of the merits of a winding up petition in circumstances where the amount subject to the statutory demand was rent and where there had been a longstanding agreement between landlord and tenant that the tenant would pay a reduced rent.
- Assisting in proceedings for a possible injunction relating to rights of light where some unusual areas of law will need to be decided, persuading the insurer to agree the fees of a leading expert.
- Dealing with hard fought litigation acting for a commercial tenant whose landlord had sought to overcharge for utilities. Obtaining a favourable outcome at trial and an order for costs.
