Rachael is an Associate in the Family team.
She joined Michelmores in 2000 and has over 20 years' experience advising on all aspects of family law, including relationship breakdown, money issues, children (both private law and public law care proceedings) and domestic violence.
Rachael is a member of Resolution and an Accredited Specialist in money and children matters and in cases of domestic violence. Rachael is also a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children.
Previously a member of the International Relations Sub-Committee of the Devon and Somerset Law Society, Rachael has a particular interest in cases with an international element. Rachael speaks fluent French and conversational Spanish.
- Acting for a client following his former wife's application to register in the Family Proceedings Court a French maintenance order.
- Acting for a client whose divorce had been pronounced several years previously in a non-EU European country. His former wife had submitted to the English courts an application for financial provision following the making of a foreign decree.
- Acting for a client whose former wife was seeking permission permanently to emigrate to Australia with their two young children.
- Acting for a mother in bringing Private Law proceedings under the Children Act 1989 as a means of challenging the guidelines which the Local Authority were seeking to impose on the family with regard to the father's contact with the children, in a situation where neither parent wished to run the risk that the Local Authority might wish to initiate care proceedings if they were to disregard those guidelines.
