Martin is a Partner in the Private Client team.

He joined Michelmores in 2007, having been the founding Partner of Follett Stock in Truro.

Martin specialises in ecclesiastical law, and is the Registrar of the Diocese of Exeter. He advises bishops and senior staff of the diocese, the board of finance, and also advises clergy and laity in the parishes.

Martin is the former Chair of the Ecclesiastical Law Association, which represents all diocesan registrars and chapter clerks.

Martin is a member of the Safeguarding Committee of the diocese, and advises on safeguarding casework.

Recent Experience

  • Acting as Secretary to the Vacancy in See Committee responsible for drafting the statement of needs for the diocese.
  • Acting for members of the clergy in clergy discipline cases involving clergy accused of conduct unbecoming.
  • Advising on the restructure of the governance of a diocese.
  • Training clergy and laity in various aspects of church law and practice.
