Daniel is a Trust and Estate Practitioner in the Tax Trusts and Succession Team, being a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), in which he achieved a distinction for the 'Advanced Certificate in Administration of Estates'. Daniel joined Michelmores in February 2018 having previously worked for six years in the probate team at Co-op Legal Services.
Daniel specialises in the administration of estates, having dealt with a wide range of estates, including those with homemade and problematic Wills, complex intestacies and multi-million pound estates. He is experienced in negotiating with HM Revenue and Customs over the payment of Inheritance Tax and mitigating this through claiming relevant exemptions and reliefs.
When not working Daniel likes to read, attend music gigs and is a Bristol City season ticket holder.
- Agreed with HM Revenue and Customs that a financial gift of £200,000 should not assessed under the Inheritance Tax rules but was instead a Pre-Owned Asset, taxable under the Income Tax rules, saving the estate £80,000 in tax.
- Arranged for a copy Will to be accepted to Probate by the Court, the original Will having been lost.
- Successfully applied to Court to rectify a Will which was erroneous due to a clerical error by another firm.
