Charlotte is Head of Education at Michelmores which comprises a team of dedicated education lawyers. She qualified in 2011 and is a specialist Education lawyer. Charlotte's expertise and focus is on supporting Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) with their strategy and growth as well as their day to day legal and commercial needs. The Education team supports over 70 MATs and over 1000 Schools.
Charlotte has particular expertise in advising MATs on governance and more recently, supporting interim Board of Trustees working with distressed MATs. Charlotte has just led on the Bright Tribe and Adventure Learning re-brokerage of 13 schools to new MATs.
Charlotte has also led on some of the country's leading Free Schools having supported groups and Academy Sponsors on all 14 Free School Waves. Charlotte also advises on a range of day-to-day issues faced by schools including admissions, exclusions, special educational needs, health & safety and governance.
Charlotte has been a Vice Chair of Governors, the Director of a MAT and a member of an Advisory Board. Charlotte currently Chairs the Leicestershire CEO network meetings.
- Leading the Education team to successfully complete the transfer of Moundwood Academy (formerly known as Aspire Academy) to the Beckmead Trust.
- Developing a structures paper for a Multi Academy Trust client. This focused specifically on securing significant public funding whilst maintaining a robust structure which allowed the Board of Directors control at a local School level
- Acting for an existing client on its takeover of a failing E-Act School. Charlotte's role was to secure her existing client the best possible position at the point of takeover ensuring that unfavorable contracts and liabilities remained the responsibility of the previous provider
- Acting on the establishment of the country's first Space Studio Schools.
