Michelmores' Senior Partner speaks at STEP families in business conference

Will Michelmore, Senior Partner at Michelmores LLP, was the keynote speaker at STEP families in business conference – 'Family Governance and Strategic Philanthropy: Can you beat the ‘Midas Curse’ of Failing Family Business Succession?' on Thursday 10 December in London.

The conference offers members the chance to discuss the limits of estate planning as well as the issue of when advisors should focus on helping their clients build a lasting legacy.

As the chairman of St Austell Brewery Company Limited, which remains firmly in family ownership five generations on from when it was founded by Walter Hicks in 1851, Will Michelmore will discuss the issues that arise when transitioning from one generation to the next.

Will Michelmore said:

"While every business will no doubt face its own unique challenges there are a number of under lying principles that all families need to carefully consider. The mind set of being the current custodian is no doubt very important but planning for the future is also key".
