Michelmores Charity of the Year in New Years Honours OBE accolade

Michelmores is proud to announce that the Chief Executive of its Charity of the Year for 2012/2013, Families for Children, Mrs Caroline Davis, has been awarded an OBE in the New Years Honours List for her outstanding commitment to services for children.

Families for Children finds permanent adoptive homes for vulnerable children who are waiting in the care system. During the two years of fundraising for Families for Children, Michelmores has raised nearly £80,000 for through a number of successful events, including the annual Michelmores 5K run. This money has been used to help find more adoptive parents, and to support children who have been adopted by providing much needed therapy and support as they struggle to come to terms with their early life experiences.

In the last two years Families for Children has gone from strength to strength and has been able to find loving adoptive homes for 81 children. “We were thrilled to be chosen as Michelmores Charity of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Michelmores has undoubtedly contributed to the strength and success of Families for Children.” Mrs Caroline Davis, OBE.

Rachel Cook, a consultant solicitor with Michelmores’ Family Team, added,

“I cannot think of a more deserving recipient for this accolade: Caroline works tirelessly to improve the lives of many children placed in care, and I am absolutely delighted that all of her hard work and commitment has been recognised in this way”.

In April 2014, Rachel will be appointed to the Board of Trustees for Families for Children.
