Michelmores advises Trees for Life on its "Rewilding Bond"

Michelmores' Corporate team has advised rewilding charity Trees for Life on a bond issue on the Triodos Bank UK Crowdfunding website. Trees for Life sought to raise £2m to part-fund the world’s first rewilding centre in the Scottish Highlands as part of its vision to revitalise wild forest and provide more space for wildlife, and communities to flourish. The fund was filled in record time.

The Dundreggan Rewilding Centre will be situated near Loch Ness, and will showcase action on climate emergencies and create green jobs. The income generated by the centre will support Trees for Life in its aim to rewild the Scottish Highlands by increasing woodland cover at Dundreggan alone from 26% to 41% during the next 10 years.

The £6m attraction is expected to open to the public in spring 2023 and aims to welcome over 70,000 visitors annually by 2030.

Steve Micklewright, chief executive of Trees for Life, commented:

“The new Triodos bond offer is a unique opportunity to invest in an exciting, positive and much-needed initiative. Funds raised will ensure we can establish Dundreggan Rewilding Centre as a beacon of hope for the restoration of nature on a large scale across Scotland, tackling climate breakdown, creating green jobs and volunteering opportunities, and reconnecting people with nature.”

Corporate partner, Alexandra Watson led the Michelmores team with support from Adam Quint.

'It was a pleasure to support Trees for Life on this ground-breaking initiative to build the world's first rewilding centre.  The response from investors has been extremely positive. Our work with Trees for Life builds on our continued support for, and focus on the sustainability sector. This is an exciting area – demonstrating exponential growth and innovation as we see more and more recognition of the value of natural capital and sustainable land management.'
