Meet the trainee – Jasmine Davis

Jasmine joined Michelmores in September 2015 and is currently in her first seat in the Tax, Trusts and Succession team. Jasmine studied Law at Cardiff University and completed her LPC at the University of Law, Bristol.

What did you do before starting your training contract?

Having grown up in the South West, I moved away to Cardiff where I studied history (though embarrassingly failed to learn who Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery is – tip for any prospective/future trainees, google him before you arrive!). I then completed the GDL and LPC at the University of Law in Bristol.

Whilst studying at the University of Law, I also worked at the Exeter Chiefs on match days – which allowed me both to enjoy the rugby and start developing my networking skills (between pulling pints!). I worked as a paralegal in the family team at Stephens Scown for just over a year before starting my training contract at Michelmores.

What made you choose Michelmores?

When considering where to apply for a training contract, I ideally wanted to be based in the South West (what’s not to love about living five minutes from the beach?!) but not have to compromise on quality of work or ambition. After researching the firm, I quickly realised that Michelmores ticked all the boxes. I applied for the summer vacation scheme and on my first day immediately realised that, as well as being able to offer top quality work and training, Michelmores has a great inclusive feel about it and everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming.

What’s been your best moment so far?

As a first year trainee, it is still quite early days but so far the annual Summer Ball has been a real highlight – the whole firm comes together and it is a great opportunity to get to meet new faces and feel part of the Michelmores community!

Outside of the office?

Outside of the office I love spending time in the great outdoors. We are lucky enough to have the beach on our doorstep and be only a 20 minute drive from the moors. I am also a big rugby fan and try to follow the Exeter Chiefs as much as possible.
