Jonathan Riley presents at The Bahamas branch of STEP
The Bahamas Branch of STEP was joined in their May luncheon meeting by Jonathan Riley, head of Michelmores' private wealth team. Jonathan presented a session highlighting the present uses of directed power trusts and the considerations that trustees should keep in mind when powers are reserved by the settlor or conferred on a third party. The Bahamas is recognised as a leading jurisdiction for reserved powers trusts and Jonathan's talk discussed how recent case law might be interpreted in relation to the Bahamas reserved powers trust legislation.
Marie Cargill, the Chair of STEP Bahamas Branch commented:
"Jonathan's presentation was timely and very well received by the attendees at the full capacity STEP luncheon event. The Branch looks forward to other presentations by Jonathan in the future."
