Michelmores Marathon for Mental Wellbeing raises almost £16,000

Our priority continues to be the health and wellbeing of our community, so we decided to do our charity run a little differently this year.

From Monday 7 June to Sunday 13 June over 350 people took part in the brand new – and virtual – Michelmores Marathon for Mental Wellbeing to raise awareness of, and money for the Charlie Waller Trust (the Trust), Michelmores charity partner. The event challenged participants to walk, jog or run 26.2 miles (42km) in just seven days, either solo, or as a team of two or four people and raised £15,924 – every penny of which will be donated to the Trust.

Tim Richards, Managing Partner at Michelmores said:

“I know I speak for us all when I say that we were all greatly heartened by the take up to the Michelmores Marathon for Mental Wellbeing. I am delighted that we have been able to bring people together as a virtual community to do something positive for our physical and mental health as well as raise money for our charity partner. Our social feeds “turned orange” with a sea of participants proudly wearing their bright event t-shirts, talking about what good mental health means for them and celebrating their contribution to the challenge.”

The Michelmores Marathon for Mental Wellbeing was held in place of the Firm’s 5k run which usually attracts over 1,000 people and takes place in the centre of Exeter.

Since its creation in 1997, the Charlie Waller Trust has become one of the UK’s most respected mental health charities. It aims to help everyone to understand and talk about mental health and create a world where young people and those who support them are equipped to maintain and enhance their mental health and wellbeing, and have the confidence to seek help when they need it.
