Partner Lorraine Jeffery has been recognised at the 2022 Citywealth Powerwomen Awards which were celebrated in London last week at a special cocktail event. 2022 marked the 11th year of the awards which champion women in the wealth sector and shine a light on female leaders.
Awarded a Bronze Woman of the Year – Future Leaders – Partner award, Lorraine was selected alongside her fellow recipients in recognition of her contribution to female leadership, diversity and the potential of women in wealth.
Of her award Lorraine said:
I was very surprised and flattered to have been nominated and, even more so, to have come third given the other nominees. On the evening of the event, my two-year-old was sobbing on my shoulder begging me not to go to London. My (very supportive) husband distracted her with the promise of a late evening bike ride so I could (guiltily) slip out the door. I had a great night in fantastic company. Balancing work and home life with two young children is a struggle but a good support network makes it possible, and I am grateful to them. I have been fortunate that Michelmores supports me as a partner, including my decision to work part-time. I hope that, as I develop as a leader, I can reassure working mums in my team and firm that it is possible to have both a career and a young family, and that I will be part of their support network. International Women’s Day 2022 was about Breaking the Bias, and awards like these are a step in the right direction.
Citywealth’s CEO, Karen Jones said:
Congratulations to all the winners of the Citywealth Powerwomen Awards 2002. The recent FTSE Women Leaders Review shows that almost 40% of UK FTSE100 board positions are now held by women. Peter Swabey, Policy and Research Director at The CGI (The Chartered Governance Institute) says it “compares to 12.5 per cent just ten years ago.” The net effect of this is that improvements have been made and awareness raised to ensure both women and men can shake off stereotypes and construct a more empowering work environment. Citywealth Powerwomen may have suffered along the way but stand as beacons of success –paying it forward for the next generation. This contest was born with the help of an LSE professor and its aim has always been to support women and to recognise their champions with upward career progression. The tools identified ten years ago are still relevant today: recognition internally and externally to peers and co-workers. Citywealth Powerwomen Awards are proud to have been part of the success story and ongoing journey.
