The Retiring Generation – Michelmores Partner speaks at prestige conference

Jonathan Riley, a private client partner at Michelmores LLP and Head of the firm's Trusts, Tax and Succession Team, recently addressed a high profile seminar concerning 'the retiring generation' hosted by Berenberg Bank in Threadneedle Street, the City of London.

The October seminar was organized by the Business Families Special Interest Group from the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and attracted senior figures from some of the City's leading law firms and private banks.

Jonathan Riley addressed the seminar on the benefits of managing the retirement process and provided a number of case studies regarding the issues involved in handing a business on to the next generation.

Other speakers included Andrew Wates, former Chairman of the Wates Group Limited, a fourth generation family business, Sue Laing, Head of Private Client at Boodle Hatfield and Ian Marsh, Managing Director & Specialist in Family Dynamics and Communication, familydr.

The seminar was chaired by Chris Lintott, a private client partner at Penningtons Solicitors LLP.

In November Jonathan Riley has also addressed the Personal Finance Society's Annual Conference at the ICC Birmingham, the sector's most significant national forum,  concerning inter-generational family tax planning and the strategies that financial advisors can adopt to meet the different needs of their clients.
