About

Charlotte supports a variety of educational institutions including schools, academies, and free schools. She has particular expertise in advising on and establishing collaborative structures and supporting groups to open new schools. Charlotte also advises on a range of day-to-day issues faced by schools including admissions, exclusions, special educational needs, health & safety and governance. 

Charlotte has worked closely with Antony Power (Partner, and Head of Education) as a specialist education lawyer since she qualified in 2011.  Charlotte has now acted on over 150 academy conversions, 50 free schools and has supported over 200 schools on a range of education matters. Charlotte has built strong relationships with some of the sector's leading individuals and developed key contacts at the Department for Education including senior Policy members. 

Charlotte is a Director of a Multi Academy Trust and the Vice Chair of Governors at a maintained Primary School. Charlotte is Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for the Michelmores' London office and is currently promoting the benefits of being a school Governor as well as implementing a new mentoring scheme with London Schools. 

Recent Experience

  • Developing a structures paper for a Multi Academy Trust client. This focused specifically on securing significant public funding whilst maintaining a robust structure which allowed the Board of Directors control at a local School level
  • Acting for an existing client on its takeover of a failing E-Act School. Charlotte's role was to secure her existing client the best possible position at the point of takeover ensuring that unfavorable contracts and liabilities remained the responsibility of the previous provider
  • Acting on the establishment of the country's first Space Studio Schools.
