Angie Maxwell

Angie is a Partner in the Clinical Negligence team. She specialises in spinal injury cases, particularly complex claims relating to cauda equina syndrome.

Prior to undertaking her law degree and Legal Practice Course, Angie was a Chartered Senior Physiotherapist working in the NHS. Her particular interest lay in neurology, but she has worked in all areas of NHS physiotherapy, including teaching and training other members of staff.

Angie has also worked as an advisor and trainer to volunteers in the Citizens Advice Bureau. Her applied clinical background and experience in assisting vulnerable clients lends her a significant advantage as a clinical negligence litigator, and she is known for her thorough, efficient and compassionate approach.

Angie is on the panel for Action against Medical Accidents, and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and the Devon and Exeter Medico-Legal Association.

Recent Experience

  • Succeeding in a cauda equina syndrome claim where the client's existing solicitors had aimed to settle for an inadequate sum; Angie turned the case around, achieving a higher sum to accommodate her client's complex, on-going care needs
  • Acting for a claimant on a negligent knee injury case, and successfully settling for substantial damages
  • Specialising in delayed diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer, frequently succeeding in claims where previous firms of solicitors had been unable or unwilling to progress the case
