Vic bowls ‘em over at Business Breakfast

Former Somerset and England spin bowler Vic Marks was the latest speaker in a long line of distinguished guests at the Michelmores Business Breakfast held at Exeter Golf and Country Club last week (Friday 13th September).

Vic marks made his test debut in 1982 and played six tests matches for England taking 11 wickets and scoring 249 runs including a top score of 83.  He also played in 34 One Day Internationals taking 40 wickets at an average of 25.79.  Today he is Chairman of Cricket at Somerset CC, writes for the Observer newspaper and is a regular contributor to Test Match Special.

Michelmores Business Breakfast, which attracted over 120 guests, also raised £450 for Exeter based charity Hospiscare.

Michelmores partner Tom Hyde who hosted the event said: “It was wonderful to have such a cricketing legend as our main speaker.  Many of the younger guests may not have heard of Vic who retired from first class cricket in 1989, but after his informative and amusing talk they certainly do now.”

Previous speakers at the highly popular quarterly event have included Rob Baxter, head coach at Exeter Chiefs, polar explorer Ann Daniels, Police & Crime Commissioner Tony Mills and former Royal correspondent Jennie Bond.
