Michelmores announce two year partnership with Macmillan

Award-winning law firm Michelmores has announced that it is to partner with Macmillan Cancer Support over the next two years with a view to raising over £75,000 for the charity dedicated to helping people with cancer.

Michelmores has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for a wide range local charities including £60,000 over the last two years for its previously adopted charity, Families for Children.

The majority of funds raised are derived from the firm’s popular city centre 5K road race which takes place in June each year and attracts around 1000 runners. In addition, Michelmores plan some new events engaging as many of its staff as possible including using its highly successful choir, involving Macmillan in its annual Christmas Bazaar and hosting one of the charity’s ‘Worlds’ Biggest Coffee Morning Events’.

Michelmores Marketing Director Louise Edwards said: “We have a very robust corporate social responsibility programme and supporting our charity of the year is central to it.  We received over 40 submissions from charitable organisations and a selection panel narrowed these down to a short list of four, with the staff having the final vote.

“All were very worthwhile causes but Macmillan Cancer Support was the ultimate winner and we can all agree that it undertakes fantastic work in the community summed up by their strapline, ‘No one should face cancer alone’.

“Everyone at Michelmores is looking forward to a wonderful two years of mutual support, great fun and successful fund-raising.”

Bridget Hill, Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Manager for South, Mid and East Devon, said: “I am delighted to be working with Michelmores and would like to thank everyone who has made this possible. Over 97% of the money we spend on supporting people affected by cancer comes from voluntary donations and Michelmores will be a vital part of our fundraising family over the next two years.”

The two year programme of support will commence at a launch party in January.
