Luke Jenkins Inquest Begins Today

Luke, from Cardiff, had been born with a congenital heart defect, requiring numerous operations throughout his life. He was treated at Bristol Children's Hospital, subject of the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry in the late 1990s, and died after suffering major complications. Subsequently, the Care Quality Commission voiced criticisms of the hospital for failing to meet essential care and patient safety standards.

The inquest will look into the cause of Luke's death, and is set to last for around 11 days. Michelmores' Clinical Negligence team are representing the family, in one of several current inquests into deaths at the hospital.
