Michelmores acts on acquisition of landmark Topsham pub
One of Topsham's most historic licensed hotels has been acquired by St Austell Brewery who were advised by the Leisure & Tourism team at Michelmores Solicitors.
The Globe Hotel, a 15th-century coaching inn in the centre of Exeter's historic port town. The Globe has been owned and managed by the same family for over 30 years and only became available when the current generation decided to downsize their business interests.
Annelie Carver, Head of Michelmores' Leisure & Tourism Group, said: "The Globe in Topsham is the second leisure related acquisition by St Austell brewery in Devon in recent months on which Michelmores has acted. It follows soon after the opening of the Old Market Pub in Brixham.
"The business has been well run for many years but still has tremendous potential. In addition to its bars and Elizabethan restaurant, there are 19 en-suite rooms, banqueting and conference facilities which host many local events and clubs and a preciously rare commodity for Topsham - a sizeable private car park.
"The Globe enjoys a really prominent location and this, coupled with St Austell's successful track record of improving the performance of the licensed premises it takes into its estate while maintaining their individual character, is a winning business formula."
